    General:

    The Jr. Business Estimator will be responsible for reviewing, estimating and preparing complete electrical and mechanical project bid proposals by analyzing customer request for quotes, blueprints, specifications, and other related documents.  Some project coordination duties are included and travel to the job sites will be required from time to time pending on the scope of work of the project.

    Functions and Duties:

    • Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full cost estimates on both electrical and mechanical industrial projects.

    • In a timely manner, gather all necessary project information and analyze, blueprints or other documentation to compile and write up detailed estimates and quotations for work to be performed (time, cost, materials and labor).

    • Prepare quotes and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to quotes or contractual agreements as required.

    • Manage all change orders as applicable to the awarded quote or contracts for estimating extra work items, change orders, credits and procuring materials.

    • Meet regularly with the Vice President of Operations to ensure coordinated approach to project management and customer support.

    • Support management and site foreman in any administrative project functions.

    • Oversee and respond to the project and maintenance needs of a customer base as assigned.

    • Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues as well as work with customers to address current maintenance and project needs and anticipate future work.

    • Working with the Business Development team to recruit new customers.

    • Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure sound relationship.

    • Communicate and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all Darana Hybrid, Inc. and AMPS Staffing, Inc.  staff and customers including problem solving and conflict resolution.

    • Attend job walks as needed.

    • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. 

    • Set up cost monitoring, reporting, and other systems and procedures including software and other field tools. 

    • Conduct forecasting and cost-reduction analysis.

    • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors. 

    ROLES AND EXPECTATIONS:

    • Learn the strategies and processes of the company’s estimating procedures and follow them on every project.

    • Follow file saving and naming procedures

    • Learn and retain knowledge of cost per device, per foot, per machine related to different types of mechanical and electrical installations

    • Build and Strengthen Existing and New Relationships.

    • Proactively bring ideas to each estimate.

    • Work hours per week that may include evenings and weekends depending on deadlines.  

    • Separate Darana Hybrid, Inc. contracting through the pre-construction process.

    Reporting:

    The Jr. Electrical Estimator reports to the Vice President of Operations.

    Supervisory Requirements:

    The Jr. Electro-Mechanical Estimator does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

    Metrics:

    The Electro-Mechanical Estimator’s success is measured by the following metrics/criteria:

    • Ability to self-start and manage projects effectively

    • Development of process and tools that streamline operations and cut costs.

    • Propensity to bring answers to the table and implement solutions quickly and accurately with full attention to detail.

    • Ability to retain information after initial training.  Position Evaluations. (30-day, 60-day, 90-day & then annually)

    Qualifications and Education Requirements:

    • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required. Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering preferred.

    • Excellent verbal and written organizational, analytical, and communication skills

    • Strong computer proficiency and intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.  Additional knowledge of project management a plus (eg. Computer-Ease, Accu-bid, MS Project, EXCEL, etc.)

    • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    • Sound decision-making and time-management skills

    • Knowledge of compliance laws, regulations and standards

    Preferred Skills:

    • 2+ years of experience working in an Estimating position preferred

    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics preferred

    • Experience with quotations/bids/job costing preferred

    Additional Notes:

    Due to the nature of this position additional time may be needed to complete a bid by the bid date with no additional compensation.
